So I had a pretty good weekend. Sunday was karaoke, which I hadn't done in ages. Monday, I went to Tokyo with one of my students. The "Crazy Boob Lady," as I call her. ;) The whole point of the trip was to go to H & M, but it was MADNESS, pure madness. Even though the store's been open for a few months now, we still had to line up for 5 blocks to get in. They even had special security guards just to control the line. One we were inside, it was kind of like that time I almost died in the moshpit of a Korn concert. I believe the Japanese idiom is, "sushizume," which in English means "packed like sardines." Sheesh. I did manage to pick up a winter coat, though, so all was not lost.

Then Mieko (Crazy Boob Lady,) went to this ritzy jewelry shop and spent 7000 yen (that's 70 dollars) on a headband. Ha ha ha. Then we saw a really ugly transvestite walking through the train station. All in all, a pretty cool, if exhausting, day..

I have to take my driving test for the fourth time this coming Monday. Bleh. Don't even get me started...

HOLY... 5 blocks! Sounds like the Japanese are a bunch of shopping-crazed people. And they do have a way of packing themselves up like sardines -- in subways, for instance? I've heard they've got these white-gloved men patrollingthe platforms whose job it is to literally shove you inside the car... O_o

*sends good luck vibes for the driving test*

Hi there! I came across your journal through your post on [livejournal.com profile] americansabroad. A few years ago, I was in the same situation you're in right now, only my boyfriend is German. ;) I managed to get a visa through university and later through a job before we wound up getting married so I could stay long-term. I was also really interested in teaching English in Japan when I finished my BA, but ended up not doing it - would you mind if I added you? I'd love to read about your experiences! Let me know if it's alright with you and I'll add you! :D

Yep, it's no problem. ;) I used to be an lj junkie, but nowadays, I don't update so much... no time, and no internet at home. :( But you're welcome to read if you like.

What did you end up doing? Do you live in Germany now? I'm actually thinking about maybe, possibly, moving there someday, when I'm done with Japan. My best friend from college lives and works there now, and might be able to help me find a job. But, who knows...

And I think we're gonna try getting my bf a working holiday visa, so he can join me here for a while, instead of me going to England. Drama drama drama... ha ha.
