This is really fucked up. One of my lj-friends (the girl I met briefly in real life when I sold her my extra NIN ticket last year,) is getting threatened by lj over her default icon. One that looks like this:



For those of you who don't know, it is a clip from a Nine Inch Nails video, of Trent Reznor licking a long, hard... microphone. And stephanie103113 is getting grief over it. Meanwhile, there are plenty of people out there in lj land using pictures of their penises or clips from porn movies for their icons. One guy even had a picture of the ass-cheek with a bite mark in it from Ted Bundy's police file.

I think anyone who is a NIN fan (or anyone who just thinks this is stupid,) should use that icon as their default, and e-mail the lj turds. I know I am.

Thank you for contacting us. We have already reviewed this matter
further and determined that the icon is indeed acceptable for use as a
default userpic by users on the LiveJournal service.

LiveJournal’s policy on default user icons is that they not contain
anything too explicit; in particular our concern is nudity or graphic
violence. Nudity would also extend to blatant sexual acts and as the icon
in question is silhouetted, the context of what it is was not
immediately apparent.

Ah, nothing like blatant sexual acts with a microphone. I should get some animated icons of Trent humping mic stands like he does.
